    Dear XRTG Members and Colleagues,

As we prepare for ASPIRE – The HFES 2026 International Annual Meeting, the Extended Reality Technical Group (XRTG) is looking for dedicated reviewers to help shape this year's program. Our group focuses on the intersection of human factors and immersive technologies, and your expertise is essential to ensuring we showcase the highest quality research in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality.

    Why Review for XRTG?

Reviewers are the backbone of our technical group, and serving in this role offers several professional advantages:

    • Early Access to Innovation: Gain a first look at state-of-the-art research and emerging trends in XR-from redirected walking and haptic interfaces to driver-vehicle AR-well before the work is published or presented.

    • Professional Development: Hone your critical thinking and editorial skills by evaluating the latest methodologies in human factors and HCI.

    • Shape the Field: Directly influence the quality and direction of the XRTG program, ensuring that the most impactful and rigorous research reaches the HFES community.

    • Service & Recognition: Build your professional service record within the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, a key component for academic and professional advancement.

    What to Expect

    • Format: Each submission is a 2-page extended abstract.
    • Workload: Most reviewers are asked to evaluate between 3-6 submissions.
    • Primary Review Period: March 9 – April 5.
    • Manuscript Review (Optional): If an accepted submission opts for publication, you may be asked to review the full draft between May 21 – June 3. (The 2025 average was 2 manuscript reviews per person).

    Training and Support

    • HFES will offer a robust set of guidelines and training materials this year, including two optional live training sessions on February 19–20. You will receive an invitation to these sessions after signing up.
