    Hi PDTG and HCTG members!

As you know, one of the tenets of effective product development is understanding the product's intended user population and designing the product to be suitable for them. Putting users first is what we are passionate about. Therefore, I'd like to make you aware of an award that recognizes development teams who have excelled in performing user-centered design during their product development process: The 22nd annual Stanley Caplan User-Centered Product Design Award, given by the Product Design Technical Group of HFES.

Winners receive an elegant trophy, $1,000 honorarium, publication in a prestigious industry journal, promotion by HFES, and more.

The winning product/system will be recognized at a special award ceremony in the fall, and the awardees will be asked to speak about the product and methodology used during the product development process. The awardees will also be encouraged to submit a paper to Ergonomics in Design the Quarterly Journal of Human Factors Applications.

Consideration is given to physical products, software, or other systems that are meant for use in the home, in the workplace, or while on the go, and may include consumer, commercial, and medical products. The product or system being nominated must be operational at the time of submission.  At a minimum, it must be scheduled for actual use within one year of its submission with no substantial changes.  At a maximum, the product or system may not have been in actual use for more than three years.

Individuals are invited to nominate themselves as well as others.  Award candidates do NOT have to be a member of HFES or of PDTG.  All individuals and/or teams are invited to participate.

This is an opportunity to showcase your user-focused work and get recognition for your efforts.

    All the best
