Bio

As an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Old Dominion University (ODU), I have over ten years of experience in teaching, research, and service in the field of human factors psychology/engineering. I am also the Director of the Applied Cognitive Performance Lab, where I lead a team of graduate and undergraduate students in conducting cutting-edge research on visual attention, perception, and cognition in various domains, such as surface transportation, aviation, and human-automation interaction.

My mission is to advance the scientific understanding of human behavior and performance in complex and dynamic environments, and to apply this knowledge to improve the design, usability, and safety of systems and technologies. I have published more than 100+ peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings on topics such as drivers' hazard anticipation, ethical decision making, trust in automation, and driver training, supported by federal funding agencies including National Science Foundation, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Virginia DMV, and NASA.
