As the team lead and senior research leader of the Human Machine Interaction (HMI) team of NS, Ellemieke combines in depth traffic management and human factors knowledge with leadership skills. While developing the team and its position within NS, she also is responsible for cutting edge HMI research. Driver condition monitoring, automatic train operation, and remote control are important topics. With a history in (vessel) traffic management and large professional network she naturally exchanges knowledge and ideas across multiple human factors and transportation domains. In addition to her role within NS, she does so as Chair of the Dutch Human Machine Interaction (MMI) Platform and as Chair of the Perception and Performance Technical Group of the international Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
