Dr. Jing Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Rice University. She received an M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Ph.D. in Psychology from Purdue University in 2015. Her research investigates the fundamental principles of human performance and decision-making, with applications to human-automation and human-AI interaction in safety-critical domains such as autonomous driving, UAV operations, and cybersecurity. Dr. Chen is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Psychological Science (APS), and the Psychonomic Society. Her honors include the APA Earl Alluisi Award for Early Career Achievement, the APS Rising Star Award, and the APA George E. Briggs Dissertation Award. She serves as Editor of the Users' Guides to Human Factors and Ergonomics Methods book series, and her research has been continuously supported by interdisciplinary grants from NSF and NASA.
