This week we are highlighting Doctoral Students Lucas Fernandes Borin and Faith Messo. They featured their research on virtual reality systems engineering at a recent graduate research open house at Kent State University College of Aeronautics and Engineering. Lucas and Faith are students in the Mechatronics Engineering PhD program. Working under Dr. Benjamin Kwasa and with Dr. Stephanie Fussell (Program Chair for Extended Reality Technical Group (XRTG) at HFES) in the College's XR Research Lab, Lucas and Faith are researching the use of extended reality technologies in engineering and aeronautics programs. The XR Research Lab team explores the development, testing, and implementation of extended reality into training environments using human factors and systems engineering principles as well as learning pedagogy to ensure the innovative programs positively enhance learning and transfer of knowledge and skills from the virtual world into the real one.
