Hello members of the ASTG,
We are happy to announce the premiere of a new "human factors in aerospace"-themed webinar series run by the ASTG, to highlight interesting projects and accomplishments of human factors professionals in the aerospace industry.
Our webinars will be monthly, will last approximately one hour, and will be both livestreamed and recorded. They will be made available online and will not require an HFES or ASTG membership to view. They will consist of a brief talk about a project the HF practitioner has been involved in, and an interactive Q&A where the audience can exchange ideas with the practitioner.
Our first webinar will take place over Zoom on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, at 1PM Pacific Time / 4PM Eastern Time. Our first guests will be James Cunningham, Kamryn Koesters and Patrick Paganelli-Mulvany from the US Air Force's Agility Prime initiative.
Here is a summary of the exciting topic they will be sharing with us:
The Agility Prime initiative by the USAF emphasizes the critical role of industry partnerships in conducting mission experimentation within the Air Force, a key strategy in deepening the understanding of operational concepts (CONOPS) for Urban Air Mobility (UAM) systems. These collaborations are essential for exploring practical aspects and challenges of implementing UAM solutions in real-world missions. By engaging directly with industry leaders and testing UAM technologies at Air Force facilities, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical CONOPS and their practical application. This hands-on approach facilitates the identification and mitigation of technological, regulatory, and cybersecurity challenges, while also addressing military and public trust issues. The Emerging Technologies Integrated Test Force at Edwards AFB is one of multiple groups within USAF managing and executing multiple USAF-industry partnership experimentations.
