I sent this as an email to all members, but in case you'd rather read it here:
Hello CEDM members,
For those of you who don't know me, I am an Associate Professor of Integrated Systems Engineering at Ohio State, and the Director of the Cognitive Systems Engineering Laboratory. In January, took over as CEDM TG Chair from Michael Dorneich. I'm excited to carry the torch and work with you to continue to grow our community and showcase our relevance to HFES and beyond.
There have been some questions about what CEDM's identity is, and how we fit into the society. Although the answers to these questions are not simple ones, and we together need to work towards them, I believe that those answers can be found in our historical strengths and our relationships with other TG's, making connections to organizations outside of HFES, and thoughtfully feeding the virtuous cycle of practice and theory that support and further each other.
To that end, I need your help! I would like to grow our leadership team to include and represent more of you. Would you like to contribute? If so, how? Please respond to me and we will find a place for you to make a difference in the TG.
Also, we are trying something a bit new for us: we are going to promote the theme of naturalistic decision-making in real-world contexts for the upcoming ASPIRE meeting (however, we're excited to receive your submissions in all of the areas that comprise
CEDM!). I have included below a message that will soon be posted on HFES Connect and LinkedIn (what - you haven't started following our LinkedIn page? You should!
https://www.linkedin.com/company/cognitive-engineering-and-decision-making/?viewAsMember=true).
I look forward to seeing you all at ASPIRE.
Thanks,
Mike
