Dear colleagues,
Our team in the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Auburn University is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to join an exciting, funded research program at the intersection of workforce development and advanced manufacturing. The position is set to begin in Fall 2026.
Our research focuses on upskilling the industrial workforce through the integration and adoption of human-centered Industry 4.0 technologies in small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs). The postdoc will lead work across four areas: identifying opportunities for technology integration, investigating barriers to adoption, evaluating human-technology collaboration, and developing outreach and training materials to support workforce readiness. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of hands-on advanced manufacturing workshops for middle and high school students.
Position details:
- 1-year appointment with potential for renewal
- Start date: Fall 2026 with some flexibility based on the selected candidate's availability
- Application deadline for best consideration: July 15, 2026
- Apply here
Ideal candidates will have:
- A PhD, DrPH, or equivalent in industrial and systems engineering, biomechanics, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated interest in occupational health and safety research
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
We'd be grateful if you passed this along to anyone who might be a strong fit. Questions are welcome; feel free to reach out to me at mark-schall@auburn.edu or Dr. Yadrianna Acosta-Sojo at yacosta@auburn.edu.
Thank you,
