The deadline for submissions to the AAAI Spring Symposium on LifeCycle Transparency has been extended to February 17th.?? Please submit, at least the one-pager, if you're interested!
Also, please note that you are asked to submit only ONE paper-- either an abstract (1 page) or a short paper (3 pages) or a full paper (8 pages).?? It's not the case that if you submit, say, a full paper you ALSO need to submit an abstract.

A AAAI Spring Symposium on the topic of "LifeCycle Transparency" has been approved and will be held March 27th - 29th, 2023 in San Francisco.?? The concept to be explored at this symposium, from an interdisciplinary perspective, will be the need, opportunity, methods and benefits stemming from spreading the transfer of "transparency information" throughout the lifecycle of human-automation interaction, thereby taking advantage of training, pre-mission planning, explanation, and post-mission debriefing, after action reviews and even learning to reduce the need and resources required to transfer transparency information in the frequently high tempo periods of execution.??
The invitation and details for the symposium are at the AAAI site:?? https://aaai.org/Symposia/Spring/sss23.php#ss07.??
More details, a tentative agenda, background and references are available at the symposium web site here:?? https://conference.sift.net/lct-2023-aaai-ss/Resources.html
Keynote Speakers are slated to be:
- Joseph Lyons - AFRL,
- Jesse Chen - ARL, and
- Subbarao Kambhampati - Arizona State University
The symposium format will encourage interactive discussion through panel sessions and a debate, as well as generous Q&A time for presented papers.??
We're making it simple to attend this workshop by inviting three types of submissions:??
- ABSTRACTS/POSITION PAPERS: For all individuals planning on attending the symposium we request they submit an abstract/position/experience statement of up to one(1) page in length (including references) about their views on the issues facing LCT, its technical and formal requirements and needs.
- SHORT PAPERS: Short papers are intended to present some small result or idea. As such, short paper submissions may be up to three(3) pages including references. Their acceptance for presentation will be at the discretion of the symposium chairs and would not be considered peer reviewed. Such submissions that are accepted will have the opportunity to provide a longer reviewed paper for inclusion in the symposium's proceedings.
- FULL PAPERS: Full paper submissions may have up to eight(8) pages including references. Full papers will be reviews by at least three members of the organizing committee. Those that are accepted will be presented at the symposium and will have the opportunity to be included in the symposia's proceedings.
Submissions are due Feb 5, but the requirements, especially for short papers, are comparatively light.?? We're more interested in thoughts and work in progress that will facilitate discussion than final papers.??
I'd also be interested in expressions of interest in participation in the panels and debate described in the agenda.
Hope to see you there!
