Dear HART TG members,
Our monthly TG member conversations are on the last Tuesdays of each month at 12 pm ET. This is a great learning and networking opportunity in HART TG.
Our next event will be on Tue, August 29th, from 12 pm to 1 pm ET. The topic of the lightning talk will be "Can human explain robots?" Our guest speaker is Dr. Ransalu Senanayake from Arizona State University.
Bio: Ransalu Senanayake is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at Arizona State University. He leads the Laboratory for Learning Evaluation of autoNomous Systems (LENS Lab). The lab focuses on operationalizing machine learning models in robots and autonomous systems by examining explainability, reasons for failures, etc. of such systems. Prior to joining ASU, Ransalu was a postdoctoral scholar in the Machine Learning Group at Stanford University. He was also a part of the Stanford Aeronautics & Astronautics Department and Stanford Medicine. He completed his PhD in Computer Science with a focus on robotics and machine learning at the University of Sydney, Australia. He also obtained a MPhil degree in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Human Factors from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. More information on his work can be found on his website at https://www.ransalu.com/.
A rough agenda is about 10 min lightning talk, followed by Q&A and group discussions. We are trying the big group approach rather than the small groups this year. Think about questions you may want to discuss with the speaker and the group.
Here is our rolling meeting agenda and minutes for 2023: here.
I hope to see you at the meeting.
Best regards,
Lixiao
