If you are interested in designing technology to help support older adults with cognitive impairments, please consider registering for our half-day workshop at the ASPIRE conference on September 9th, 2024.

As the population ages, the number of people experiencing age-related cognitive impairments will increase. Technology solutions can meaningfully support the well-being, quality of life, and independence of older adults with cognitive impairments (CI). However, these individuals are often underrepresented in the technology design process. The ENHANCE Center (https://www.enhance-rerc.org/) aims to understand the challenges older adults with CI face, improve their interactions with technology, and design novel solutions to support community engagement and independent living. This workshop will cover the diverse needs and abilities of older adults with CI, challenges in everyday living, and technology's role in support. Participants will engage in interactive design exercises and learn about accommodations and considerations for cognitively diverse older adults throughout the design cycle. The session is suitable for individuals from various backgrounds and will provide valuable insights for designing technology-based interventions for older adults with CI.
