STTG and HFES members,
We hosted the STTG annual business meeting on 8/29 at 6:30 PM EST. This year's meeting was hosted virtually to align with recommendations from HFES. We had roughly 25 attendees, well below last year's attendance of 80+ members. Below are the key highlights from the meeting.
Awards:
-
Student Travel Awards (new) - Student reviewers were eligible to receive a travel award. 5 students were randomly selected to receive the award which covered $150 of their ASPIRE conference registration fee.
-
Stephanie Binder Young Professional Award - We are seeking nominations until 9/27.
-
Best Student Paper Award - Myeongkyu Lee & Brandon Pitts (The effects of system confidence and reliability on drivers' decision-making in conditionally automated vehicles). Congratulations!
- We also want to acknowledge our review committee (John Shutko, Yi-Ching Lee, Tony McDonald, Yiqi Zhang, Wayne Giang, & Jing Chen)!
Other highlights:
-
Mentoring Program (continued from last year) - Mentees were paired with Mentors and met at ASPIRE.
-
Social Event at ASPIRE - We received feedback from our members that we should host more activities/webinars/events. Please reach out if you're interested in taking a leadership role as the STTG Event Planner. We're hoping to organize an informal event at TRB.
-
Leadership Nominations - We have received nominations for STTG Vice-Chair and Program Vice-Chair. Please send additional nominations by 10/31. You may nominate yourself or a colleague, but please confirm that your colleague is interested in a leadership role. Election ballots will be emailed shortly after the nomination deadline.
-
Communication - The STTG Communication did an excellent job of providing updates to the STTG and HFES community. They helped us stay actively engaged via X, LinkedIn, STTG website (http://hfessttg.blogspot.com/), and Connect. Thank you for all your hard work this year. Please reach out if you're interested in being part of the communication team.
-
We received 73 submissions resulting in an acceptance rate of 67% and hosted 16 technical sessions (twice as many as last year)! Thank you to all of the STTG volunteers that chaired or co-chaired these sessions!
Starting in 2025, Maryam Zahabi will be our STTG Chair and Eric Fichtel will be our Program Chair (currently held by Brandon Pitts). We look forward to their leadership! π
