    Description: We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate with interests in aging, cognitive impairment, and technology.  The position will be jointly advised by Dr. Wendy Rogers (Director of the Human Factors and Aging Laboratory) and Dr. Raksha Mudar (Director of the Aging and Neurocognition Laboratory. The position is for one-year initially but renewable for up to three years.  The overall goal of our research is to support successful aging for older adults with cognitive impairment through technology.  The behavioral focus areas are health self-management, social connectivity, transportation, cognitive engagement, and everyday activities in the home. The technology focus areas include smartphone/computer applications and intelligent systems.  The participant focus is older adults aging with cognitive impairment due to traumatic brain injury, post-stroke, or mild cognitive impairment.

    This position is funded by a National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC).  Enhancing Neurocognitive Health, Abilities, Networks, and Community Engagement (ENHANCE) is a multisite center that includes Illinois, Florida State University, and Weill Cornell Medicine. 

    The postdoc will coordinate and implement ENHANCE research, development, and training activities at the Illinois site.  The postdoc will be engaged in all aspects of the research including study design, recruitment, supervision of staff, coordination of enrollment, analysis, and preparing materials for presentations and publications.

    Qualifications: Successful candidates must have an earned doctorate in an affiliated discipline such as gerontology, health, human factors, psychology, speech and hearing science, rehab engineering, or other health-related field.  Candidates must have experience conducting research with older adults.  Experience (or at least interest) in cognitive impairment is important as well.  Strong communication skills – spoken and written – are critical, and should be evidenced by publications and presentations.  Organizational skills are very important for this position.  Experience mentoring undergraduates and junior graduate students is a plus.
