The Human Factors Engineering team at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a summer intern with the drive, knowledge, collaborative nature and skills to enhance patient and provider experience, improve health and manage or reduce the cost of healthcare through engineering solutions.
Interested candidates must be pursuing a master’s degree or Ph.D. in any of the following:
Industrial engineering
Biomedical engineering
Applied psychology with a focus on human factors and ergonomics
Applicants must have a strong quantitative and/or qualitative background. This position will assist with gathering and analyzing prospective qualitative and/or quantitative data in the clinical setting.
Candidates must possess strong teamwork, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. They will be expected to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary team members. Proven written and oral communication abilities are essential. The position requires observations and data collection in a surgical environment. Preference will be given to those with exposure to research methods and human participate data collection experience, as well as those who are self-directed, adaptable, and demonstrate positive enthusiasm for their work.
