    Dear Colleague,

We invite you to participate in a workshop hosted by CREATE: Center for Research and Education on Aging and Technology Enhancement .  This two-day workshop on "Designing for Older Adults with Cognitive Impairment" will take place on May 1 -2, 2025 in New York, NY.  CREATE is a consortium of Weill Cornell Medicine and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, supported by the National Institutes of Health (National Institute on Aging). The focus of CREATE is on making technology more useful to, and usable by older adults.

A key focus of the workshop will be exploring how each stage of the design process- ranging from needs assessment to usability testing to efficacy evaluation-can be adapted to include older adults with a range of cognitive abilities, including those with cognitive impairment. A highlight of the workshop will be actionable guidelines and best practices for designing for older adults, emphasizing inclusivity, and addressing varying needs, preferences, and abilities of older adults with cognitive diversity.  Case studies from CREATE research will illustrate practical design challenges and the strategies used to overcome them.

This workshop will bring together representatives from industry, research organizations, and universities involved in product design or research targeted toward meeting the needs of older adults.  An important aspect is an opportunity for representatives to share their experiences, challenges, and outlook for the future. This will be a highly interactive event.  Participants will receive a complimentary copy of Designing for Older Adults: Case Studies, Methods, and Tools.

Attendance is limited, so attendees must register by April 1st, 2025. The cost of the workshop is $1,200. A reduced rate is available for students or postdocs of $800. You will be responsible for your travel expenses and accommodation in New York. Meals during the workshop are provided and we will be hosting a reception and dinner on the first evening to provide an additional forum for networking and informal interaction. We will provide recommendations for hotels in the area.

We look forward to having you attend. To learn more about CREATE, please visit our website. For further information about the workshop, please contact Adrienne Jaret at adj2012@med.cornell.edu or 646.962.7153. Attached is the registration form.
