The HFE Woman group is seeking professionals, faculty, and graduate students to host one or more Monthly Virtual Coffee Chats for the HFE Woman.
This is a monthly event, and we are building a diverse group of hosts who can take turns leading sessions throughout the year. The HFE Woman Virtual Coffee Break is an informal, safe, and welcoming space where we share the real stories behind our journeys in Human Factors and Ergonomics. We talk about our successes and wins, but also the challenges, setbacks, and lessons learned that shaped our paths as academics, students, and practitioners.
Hosting offers meaningful professional benefits, particularly for graduate students:
-
Gain experience facilitating professional discussions
-
Strengthen public speaking and communication skills in a supportive setting
-
Increase your visibility within the HFES community
-
Expand your professional network across institutions and career stages
-
Demonstrate leadership and service involvement
Time Commitment: 50 min to host the session
Host Responsibilities:
-
Provide a short introduction about your background and journey in HFE
-
Share a few experiences, lessons learned, or defining moments
-
Facilitate an open and inclusive discussion among participants
-
Help create a respectful, supportive atmosphere
For faculty and professionals, hosting is an opportunity to mentor, give back to the community, and support emerging scholars and practitioners.
We welcome hosts from all career stages and sectors. If you're interested in being part of the rotation, please fill out this form, and we will contact you soon.
