    Hello everyone!

We are looking to invite 4-5 panelists with research interests and/or lived experience with chronic illness to present unique perspectives on the associated barriers and complexities regarding outpatient home-care. Those with healthcare-related research experience in usability, system design, psychology, and chronic illness considerations for the workplace are welcome to join. Below is a brief abstract describing the panel:

Approximately 76.4% of adults in the United States identify with having one or more chronic conditions (Watson et al., 2025). Despite the prevalence, at-home health and the nuances associated with chronic illness are a markedly under-discussed topic, especially within the context of human factors research. Because individual experiences vary greatly due to illness visibility, knowledge of condition, body systems involved, and quality of life, there is substantial heterogeneity regarding the needs and issues faced by such patients in these environments. As a result, it is essential to consider the impacts of outpatient home-care complexity in individuals with chronic illnesses. Given the considerable number of adults impacted by chronic conditions who need to manage their health at home, this discussion holds relevance and meaningfulness for all individuals.
