Hello VETG!
And Happy New Year! I hope everyone had an excellent end to 2022.
With an exciting 2023 ahead of us, we wanted to share the outcomes of our recent election for the VETG Chair-Elect position.
It was a very very close vote across three highly-qualified candidates. Please offer a congratulations to Dr. Shannon Bailey, she will serve as Chair-Elect leading up to the 2023 HFES Annual Meeting, and she will assume Chair responsibilities as the conclusion of the conference in Washington, DC.
We also held a vote regarding the potential name change of our Technical Group. The outcomes of that survey were unanimous (i.e., 100% voted YES) and all agreed that a name change is justified. Based on this determination, we will work the HFES Leadership to officially change our name to the eXtended Reality Technical Group (XRTG). It's difficult to fully capture the spectrum of work executed within our community in a single title, but the VETG officers feel this is the most appropriate naming convention as we navigate into the future.
Lastly, we will be holding elections in the summer timeframe for numerous positions within the VETG. Keep a look out for announcements and nomination requests.
