    Speaker: Amy J. Ko, PhD
Abstract: Amy will discuss how, employing a disability justice lens and embracing its intersections with other systems of oppression around race, gender, and class, she strives to apply a Universal Design in Learning (UDL) framework to her teaching. She'll share her philosophy on UDL and share 7 heuristics she has developed for accessible teaching in computing.
Our speaker: Amy J. Ko studies equitable, joyous, liberatory learning about computing and information, in schools and beyond, drawing from human-computer interaction, computing education, software engineering, programming languages, learning sciences, behavioral sciences, and sociology. She is a Professor and Associate Dean for Academics at the University of Washington Information School, with a courtesy appointment in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering. Among many other activities related to promoting greater accessibility in computing, Amy has co-editing and authored books like Teaching Accessible Computing (https://bookish.press/tac) to help grow communities and served as a long-time co-PI of NSF AccessComputing
