Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Human Performance and Neuroengineering Lab, Texas Tech University

    Dear HFES Community:

I am looking for an immediate postdoctoral research associate to join our Human Performance and Neuroengineering Lab at Texas Tech University in the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering. I am working on creating the official job link; I expect to share the application link sometime next week. Since I am visiting 66th HFES Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, and if any interested candidate happens to visit the conference, we can meet and discuss this opportunity. The pay range is between 52K - 55K range. We have several federally funded projects.  You will be involved primarily in projects aimed at performing both implicit and explicit simulations in finite element modeling, working with head-neck and full-body OpenSim musculoskeletal models, biomechanical data, and helmet design and testing.  We have five Ph.D. students, two M.S., and several undergraduate students in the lab.

Therefore, your main responsibilities include 1) mentoring Ph.D. and M.S. students, 2) publishing high-quality journal articles, 3) overseeing project milestones,  and 4) helping the Lead Principal Investigator (me) to track project milestones. The PI is committed to training you on proposal writing, and patent application, and helping you in your academic/professional career development process. In addition, you will have the experience of working with a team with a strong technical background in computational biomechanics and neuroscience, biomaterials design, additive manufacturing, and deep learning techniques.

Expectations: Experience with OpenSim modeling (impact and thermal analyses), machine learning, and neural modeling are given the topmost priority. We expect you to be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, congenial, and have excellent written communication skills. Candidates who can join immediately or by January 2023 should only contact me. You should have a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering, industrial & systems engineering, or biomedical engineering by the first day of your appointment.

The position is initially for two years, with renewal dependent on the continued availability of funding. Salary is commensurate with credentials. Interested individuals, please send a CV and a sample publication to me (Dr. Suman K. Chowdhury)  via e-mail (suman.chowdhury@ttu.edu).

    Thank you,
