    Dear Colleagues,

     

    The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at California State Polytechnic University Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for one tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in Fall 2026. We seek candidates with expertise in Smart/Digital Manufacturing, Automation, Mechatronics, AI in Manufacturing, and Human-System Integration (including Virtual/Augmented Reality). Candidates should be able to teach a broad range of courses in manufacturing and industrial engineering and develop a research program in advanced manufacturing systems and technologies.

     

    A Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university by the date of appointment is required. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to educational excellence and student success, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.

     

    Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in smart manufacturing areas, including but not limited to additive manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, MEMS/NEMS, bio-manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing, digital twins, cloud/reconfigurable manufacturing, and AI/machine learning applications in manufacturing systems, as well as human-system integration.

    First consideration will be given to completed applications received by December 7, 2025. Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed at the discretion of the search committee. The selected individual will have the opportunity to join a growing program within the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona.
