Call for Nominations for Safety Technical Group Leadership Positions
We have exciting leadership opportunities available to members of the Safety Technical Group! The positions of Technical Group Chair, Technical Group Program Chair, Technical Group Vice Chair and Technical Group Vice Program Chair are open, and we are seeking Full members to serve as candidates to run for these positions. Service on an HFES Technical Group is a wonderful way to develop new leadership skills, share your expertise and help advance specific application areas of human factors and ergonomics. Please consider lending your leadership to HFES as an officer of the Safety Technical Group.

Open Positions and Terms of Service:
We seek nominees for each of the four positions below. Terms of service will run from date of ballot closing through December 31, 2025.
- · Technical Group Chair is not typically an elected position. One becomes a Technical Group Chair after serving one year as Technical Group Vice Chair; however, in 2025, we will hold an election to include this position.
- · Technical Group Vice Chair is an elected position. After serving one year, the Technical Group Vice Chair becomes the Technical Group Chair for one year: January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
- · Technical Group Program Chair is not typically an elected position. One becomes Technical Group Program Chair after serving one year as the Technical Group Vice Program Chair.
- · Technical Group Program Vice Chair is an elected position. After serving one year, the Technical Group Program Vice Chair becomes the Program Chair for one year: January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
Duties:
Technical Group Chairs convene and lead the Technical Group annual business meeting and arrange other events for the TG members. They distribute communications to TG members and ensure that TG activities are being carried out. The TG Chair also represents the TG as a member of the Council of Technical Groups and should join the COTG community forum and participate in COTG discussions and activities.
The TG Program Chair is responsible for overseeing the technical review of proposals submitted for the HFES Annual Meeting. The TG Vice Program Chair assists the program chair with the technical review of papers for the annual meeting and assumes the Program Chair position in January 2026.
Technical Group Activities:
Some Technical Groups provide awards, organize webinars, distribute newsletters, and maintain their own websites – among other activities. A team of staff in the Washington, DC office provides assistance to Technical Groups – especially with elections and with logistics related to the organization of the annual business meeting.
