Two Postdoctoral Research Associate Positions in Human Factors Engineering
The Human-Systems Evaluation and Analysis Laboratory (H-SEAL) in the Drexel University Department of Information Science has openings for two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions.
One is to be part of an interdisciplinary research team focusing on safe, efficient, and timely integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into the U.S. National Airspace System, where the operation of multiple aircraft is controlled by one operator.
The other is to be part of an interdisciplinary research team focusing on the application of human factors methods in the development of a medical device to support ultrasound treatment in the home.
Position 1: Post Doctoral Researcher\Research Associate I
Job Overview:
Drexel University's College of Computing and Informatics is seeking applications for a Research Associate\Post Doctoral Researcher. The position is funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research. The purpose of the funded study is to develop an operational concept (OpsCon) and refined device prototype for delivering low frequency, low intensity (LFLI) ultrasound therapy to patients with chronic wounds and Alzheimer's disease or Alzheimer's disease related dementia (AD/ADRD) in a home setting by family caregivers.
The role of the Research Associate\Post Doctoral Researcher Develop is to support specifying the operational concept for using and maintaining the ultrasound treatment in the home. As an operational concept focuses on the system under development from a stakeholder perspective, this research involves identifying use cases including normative and erroneous human behavior such as incorrect placement of the device, incorrect use of acoustic coupling gels, and other potential failures. Focus groups with patients, caregivers, homecare nurses, and physicians as well as simulations using the ultrasound prototype will help to define the components of the operational concept: user description, operational environment, and operation scenarios.
Qualifications:
The ideal applicant will have a Ph.D. in human factors, systems engineering, human-computer interaction, information science, psychology, or a related area. The ideal applicant will have a strong background in literature review, task analytic methods, cognitive modeling, the design and execution of simulator-based human-in-the-loop experiments, and aviation knowledge. All applicants should demonstrate technical skills in statistics, writing abilities, and good communication skills.
Logistics:
This full-time research position includes full benefits.
This position has not yet been posted but should be very soon. The official screening of positions will start as soon as possible.
