The HUMAN PERFORMANCE MODELING TECHNICAL GROUP The Human Performance Modeling Technical Group focuses on the development and application of predictive, reliable, and executable quantitative models of human performance. In distinction to other approaches to behavioral and cognitive modeling, human performance modeling considers the human, engaged in some goal-directed behavior, in the context of a designed task environment.

    There is an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the human-system interaction (HSI) laboratory to work with Dr. Maryam Zahabi at Texas A&M University. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field.

    The successful candidates will have a strong background in experiment design, statistical analysis, as well as familiarity with statistical software such as R, JMP or SPSS. The position involves conducting research in the area of human-systems engineering with a focus on human-computer interaction, cognitive performance modeling, virtual reality, and surface transportation. In addition to conducting research, the postdoctoral researcher will engage in other activities such as advising graduate students, consulting or collaborating with other researchers or graduate students in this area, and working closely with the PI on research proposals.

    Required Education

    • Doctoral degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related field

    Preferred Experience

    • Previous research experience in human-computer interaction, cognitive performance modeling, virtual reality, or surface transportation
    • Strong statistics background
    • Familiarity with statistical software packages
