The HUMAN PERFORMANCE MODELING TECHNICAL GROUP The Human Performance Modeling Technical Group focuses on the development and application of predictive, reliable, and executable quantitative models of human performance. In distinction to other approaches to behavioral and cognitive modeling, human performance modeling considers the human, engaged in some goal-directed behavior, in the context of a designed task environment.

3rd IEEE International Conference on Human-Machine Systems (ICHMS)

    Orlando, Florida, November 17-19, 2022

    (Hybrid Event – In-person and Online: https://www.ise.ufl.edu/ichms2022/ )

    CALL FOR PAPERS

The theme of the 3rd ICHMS is "Human-Autonomy Teaming". The meeting will specifically cover contributions on integrated human/autonomy systems at multiple scales, including: cognitive engineering of autonomous agents; design for human and autonomy interaction; technological aids for human-autonomy interaction; human-autonomy interaction modeling, testing and evaluation; and fundamental issues of measurement and prediction of human-autonomy performance in engineered systems. The organization of ICHMS will include Regular Sessions, Special Sessions and sessions focused on PhD student research. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and in IEEE Xplore and indexed by EI Compendex.

Regular papers (6 pages) should provide complete and high-quality contributions to the field. Short Papers (4 pages) are expected to cover recent research outcomes that are not yet mature enough for a regular paper but still provide novel insights. Posters (1 page) should ideally show work in progress or applications/demos that can be best presented through an interactive format at the meeting. Submission to a Regular Session or a PhD Research Session should focus on topics such as:

    Affective Computing

    Assistive Technology

    Augmented Cognition

    Augmented Reality Systems

    Brain-Machine Interfaces

    Decision-Support and Recommender Systems

    Ethical Aspects of Human-AI Systems

    Human Factors in Design

    Human-Computer Interaction

    Human-Autonomy Cooperation and Teaming

    Human-Machine Interface Design

    Human Performance Modeling

    Human-Robot Interaction

    Information Visualization

    Interactive Design Science

    Engineering Interactive and Digital Media

    Kansei (sense/emotion) Engineering

    Mental Models

    Multi-User Interaction

    Resilience Engineering in Human-AI Systems

    Systems Safety Engineering

    Team Performance and Training Systems

    Usability and User Profiling

    User Interface Design

    User Monitoring

    Virtual and Augmented Reality Systems

    Wearable Computing

    Web-based Interactive Systems

All Special Session submissions must include at least 4-5 research contributions/abstracts clearly addressing a common HMS topic area. (Please communicate with the Genreral Chair or Program Chair in advance to ensure a topical fit with the focus of the meeting.) If a session is rejected, component abstracts may be considered as individual contributions to the meeting.

Complete manuscripts must be electronically submitted via the ICHM22 EasyChair site (https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=ichms22 ). Submitted manuscripts must appear in IEEE two-column format, including figures, tables, and references. Please use the IEEE templates at Manuscript Templates for IEEE Conference Proceedings to prepare your paper (https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html ). All submissions MUST be in PDF format.

Authors of accepted papers will need to register online for the conference before the early registration deadline (see below) in order for papers to be published in the conference proceedings. Papers MUST also be presented during the conference. If a paper is not presented, it will be removed from the IEEE Xplore Online Proceedings.

     DEADLINES (TENTATIVE) FOR ALL CONTRIBUTIONS

    • Deadline for submission of abstracts (500 words) for all session types: June 1, 2022
    • Acceptance notification: June 30, 2022
    • Final papers due: August 31, 2022
    • Acceptance notification: September 30, 2022
    • Deadline for early registration and final paper for publication: October 15, 2022
