    For our first DCI meeting of the year (we meet quarterly as a group) we will have a guest speaker, Ms. Emily A. Keatley, former EEOC attorney (see full details below).

    About Emily A. Keatley: 

    Emily A. Keatley most recently served for three years as a trial attorney for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's St. Louis District, prosecuting employers for employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, transgender status, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information throughout Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and southern Illinois. 

    Emily began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Bobby R. Baldock, Senior Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She then worked as an associate with Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C., litigating primarily patent and products liability matters on behalf of pharmaceutical companies. Emily received her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University School of Law and her undergraduate degree summa cum laude in Politics and Russian Area Studies from Washington and Lee University.

    About the session (format – presentation followed by Q & A).

    Emily will discuss the protection that the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended provides for employees from disability discrimination in any aspect of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, fringe benefits, and any other condition of employment. She will explain the rights of applicants and employees as well as employers' corresponding legal obligations from job application to requesting reasonable accommodation to filing a complaint of disability discrimination.
