    [apologies for cross posting]

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Human Factors Technical Section (HFTS) is looking for graduate Human Factors students to assist the section officers with various activities, promote Human Factors best practices, and grow membership both within HFST and the global SPE organization. Universities providing HF and industrial psychology degrees in the US, UK and other countries typically require students to gain practical experience in an industry of their choice. Although students cannot become members of the SPE Technical Sections, they can do work that would benefit the technical section. Subject to SPE's approval, student volunteers would be recruited from a college or university who have Human Factors graduate programs and would be either currently enrolled or a recent graduate. This would be an unpaid volunteer position.

    Advantages for students:
Hands-on work experience in the field of Human Factors
Exposure to the challenges and activities in the O&G/ Energy sector
Networking with executives and professionals within the global oil and gas and energy community
Networking with petroleum engineering and HSE students building connection likely to be utilized for years in the future.
Develop and refine your skills through working with various professionals on different types of projects.
     Develop research and presentation skills.
Gain practical insights into what happens in O&G/ Energy activities/operations.
Learn about differences between, and challenges in process safety and personal safety.
Learn about the complexities of real socio-technical systems with emergent properties which can result in unpredictable outcomes.
Learn about the efforts that are being made to prevent major accidents in a complex and important industry.
Work and cooperate with volunteering, driven experts in their fields.
