Dear Colleagues,
The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) at the University of Houston invites applications for multiple faculty positions: two endowed full professorships; three tenure-track positions in Human Factors, AI/Machine Learning, and Advanced Manufacturing; and one non-tenure-track position in Supply Chain and Logistics Technology.
Endowed Full Professors - Industrial Engineering (2 positions)
ISE invites applications for two Endowed Professorship positions, both at the rank of Full Professor, to begin in Fall 2027. We seek outstanding candidates with strong methodological foundations in one or more areas relevant to industrial and systems engineering, including operations research, manufacturing, machine learning, and quantum computing, with innovative applications in energy, healthcare, or complex systems. Questions regarding this position should be directed to the search committee chair, Dr. Suresh Khator, at skhator@central.uh.edu. (Position No: 497002)
Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professors (3 positions)
ISE seeks candidates for three tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant or associate professor level, beginning in Fall 2027. One position is anticipated in each of the following areas: Human Factors (#496939), AI/Machine Learning (#496967), and Advanced Manufacturing (#496966). Successful candidates will be expected to establish or sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; mentor students; and contribute to professional, departmental, college, and university service. Candidates should have a strong methodological foundation and research expertise in at least one of the three areas. Questions regarding these positions should be directed to the search committee chair, Dr. Qianmei (May) Feng, at qfeng@central.uh.edu.
NTT Instructional Faculty - Supply Chain and Logistics Technology (1 position)
ISE invites applications for an open-rank, non-tenure-track instructional faculty position in Supply Chain and Logistics Technology, beginning in Fall 2027. The rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to applied supply chain education and to connecting academic concepts with professional practice. Candidates should be able to teach existing courses and develop new courses in emerging areas, including (1) AI, data analytics, and digital supply chains; (2) supply chain network design and optimization; (3) supply chain risk, resilience, and sustainability; and (4) supply chain finance and global trade. Questions regarding these positions should be directed to the search committee chair, Dr. Qianmei (May) Feng, at qfeng@central.uh.edu. (Position No: 497003)
The Department: The ISE Department has 24 full-time faculty members and approximately 900 students enrolled in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs. The department is experiencing rapid growth in both research activity and student enrollment. Faculty members have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the university and in the Houston community in areas including supply chain, logistics, transportation, energy, power systems, resilience, smart cities, sustainability, and manufacturing.
The University: UH is a Carnegie-designated Tier One public research university and the flagship institution of the UH System. With more than 49,000 students, UH is one of the most diverse research universities in the nation and is consistently recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and community engagement. The university maintains strong collaborations with the world-renowned Texas Medical Center, NASA's Johnson Space Center, and Houston's energy, healthcare, and technology industries. Faculty enjoy access to outstanding research facilities, opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration, and strong support for securing competitive external funding.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the positions are filled, with full consideration given to those received by December 1. Members of the ISE department's faculty will be attending the 2026 INFORMS Annual Meeting. If you'd like to be interviewed by or meet with us during the conference, please submit your application by October 23, 2026. Application portal link: https://careers.uh.edu/jobs/search/uh-postings
