Good morning all,
I am on my second year providing consulting services in industrial ergonomics. I have dove into industries from data centers to manufacturing to healthcare, among others in between. As I prepare to take the CPE exam this fall and revisit my professional goals, I am looking to find more about what a transition from consulting to in-house ergonomics looks like, particularly into the manufacturing sector. Consulting has allowed me to develop my technical expertise and cross-industry approach, but I am curious if this has given me the necessary "depth" to work in one specific industry.
I would like to get other professionals' opinions on this from those who have gone through this transition. Particularly those with a biomechanics/kinesiology background.
How was your transition? What made you go in house? What did you do to prepare? Additional industry-specific education or training? What were some of the challenges you faced once going in house?
Thank you,
