What You’ll Do:As a User Experience/Interaction Designer Aptima you’ll learn to become a design leader while solving challenging real-world problems. You’ll work with our accomplished designers to develop your design skills and you’ll put these skills to practice on cross-disciplinary teams building advanced technologies. We’ll provide opportunities for growth in Aptima’s design team and you’ll be able to influence the direction of our culture through Aptima’s Design Community of Practice.
We’re looking for team players with a positive attitude and strong collaboration skills who want to help teams plan and execute at every stage of the design process, communicating ideas through artifacts like wireframes, workflows, interactive prototypes, user stories, and user personas. You’ll learn to lead engaging design studios that encourage team members to participate in creative problem-solving exercises, and you’ll work with software engineers to make your dreams a reality.

Experience Needed:- Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Communicate your ideas clearly, both through verbal and written communication and artifacts such as workflows, wireframes, detailed user interface designs, and interactive prototypes
- Collaborate with project teams and software engineers to gather requirements for design, collect feedback, and iterate towards a common goal
- Maintain awareness of current design trends and best practices and incorporate them into your work
- Present information on your field of expertise, trends, and best practices to the company
- Consult with users, software engineers, project leaders, and management to resolve problems and recommend alternative approaches
- Help software engineers implement designs effectively
- Collaborate on proposals to win exciting new projects
- In addition to the specified knowledge, skills, and abilities, the following would be a plus: experience with Angular, React, or similar development framework, experience conducting user research (e.g. surveys, interviews, observations, etc.), and experience with writing research proposals
Minimum Requirements:- U.S. Citizenship required or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s in a related field (e.g. Design, Human Factors, Computer Science, Applied Psychology, Cognitive Science)
- 1 year of experience as a user experience designer, user interface designer, or software engineer
- UI-UX Portfolio or other demonstration of recent work
