Congratulations to Hanna Barton on their election as Co-Chair of the HFES LGBTQ+ Affinity Group, for a two-year term (ending October 2023).
Hanna joins Jules Trippe (whose term runs until October 2022) in co-leading the Affinity Group created in 2019 within HFES.
Join us in celebrating our new leaders!!Sylvain Bruni stepped down as Co-Chair after co-leading the group since its inception but will remain involved with all things DEI within HFES.
About Hanna - Hanna Barton (they/them) is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Human Factors and has been a member of HFES since 2019. Their research focuses on designing person-centered, resilient health care systems-such as those systems surrounding family management of a child's complex, chronic disease or older adults' emergency department transitions. Hanna is passionate about using Human Factors methods to design a more just world, intervene in systems of oppression, and create truly inclusive spaces. They would be honored to serve as a co-chair for the HFES LGBTQ+ AG to continue to serve our queer membership and create a comfortable, safe environment for queer folks to flourish in our field more broadly.
About the HFES LGBTQ+ AG -
The LGBTQ+ Affinity Group exists to better serve our members who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, gender non-conforming, and their allies and supporters. This HFES Affinity Group has three objectives: To promote diversity, inclusion, and equity for the queer community within the Society, to foster community between HFES members through welcoming events (at conferences and symposia), and to better our world through outreach activities with HFES' partners and associated institutions.------------------------------
