Thanks to your hard work we have an excellent selection of submissions for this year's annual meeting. We are now moving into the review phase. As a new faculty member and former student, my experience is that a thorough review is one of the most important and valuable aspects of an HFES submission. With that in mind, I wanted to clarify the process with the new submission system so that we can band together to make this year's reviews as helpful as possible.
The review process will unfold over email. The first email you will receive is an agreement to serve as a reviewer for the conference. Accepting this email does not mean that you have committed to review a specific paper, only that you are willing to review at least 1 paper. This email will come from me (Tony McDonald) and have the subject line: "
65th International Annual Meeting - Surface Transportation Reviewer Invitation"The remaining emails you will receive are invitations to review specific submissions. To accept a review assignment you need to log into the submission site, Find the item in your My To-Do list at the top of the page, click on "confirm assignments" (see photo below) and then click on the option button next to Accept at the bottom of the page. You may instead identify a conflict of interest, which will remove the review assignment from your queue. These emails will come from "65th International Annual Meeting Submissions <
do_not_reply@linklings.com>". I would sincerely appreciate it if you can accept your invitations as soon as possible so that I can ensure all submissions get adequate reviews.
Finally, the reviewer pool will automatically be pulled from the author submission list. If you did not submit a paper to the conference this year but are interested in reviewing, please send me an email at
mcdonald@tamu.edu and I will add you to the list. This is a great opportunity for students to get experience as reviewers, so please do not be shy about volunteering.
