    Hi everyone,

    I just made this offer on LinkedIn to several UX professional groups and thought I should cross post it here as well since I am a member of the HFES.

    At last years HFES Annual Meeting in Seattle (which seems like a lifetime ago) during my invited talk for the PDTG session I announced that my new book on the Semantic IxD Method named "UX MAGIC" would be published in January. That indeed has happened. The book launch sponsored by the Interaction Design Foundation included a master class broadcast globally to 1300 designers. I also gave an invited in person seminar on this new Semantic IxD method at Carnegie Mellon HCII in Feb.

    Since then I have been giving 60-75 minute remote guest speaker presentations to UX teams here in Silicon Valley (as well as globally) where I have personal connections. It ranges from teams of 10 to teams of 2000+ (think really big tech company).

    Investing in education is the second most hopeful thing we can do as humans. Most people would agree that having children is the first. While the world is in crisis right now I hope you will consider this offer to level up your design teams. There will be even more important work for us to do when this crisis is over. Teams that I have done it for recently have expressed their appreciation not only for the new content that they can apply immediately but also for the small degree of normalcy it added to their routine and sense of design community while working from home.

    This is one small thing that I can do from my shelter-in-place lock down to be helpful to my peers and remain positive. If you are a design or HF manager/leader and would like to take me up on this free offer please contact me and we will arrange a time.

    This is an excellent idea and a generous offer. Thank you for doing this and inspiring us with your offer.

    While I don't have a book to discuss, I too am willing to provide free talks, seminars, or workshops via web conferencing to your teams during this time of social distancing. I could cover a wide variety of topics. Here are some examples:

    • Conducting ethnography and contextual inquiry to fuel design and innovation
    • Contextual inquiry case study: Ride-Hailing Systems from the Drivers' Perspectives
    • Integrating human factors and usability engineering in medical device design and development
    • Anthropometry for hand-held devices
    • The history of user-centered design
    • Use-related hazard analysis
    • Power & value of consumer product development techniques when applied to medsumer (consumer medical) devices
